Funds from the Sarie McCarthy Scholarship are used to sponsor local Sebago children participating in our Ski & Ride Club this winter. This scholarship helps ensure that all kids have the opportunity to enjoy outdoor recreation, learn new skills, and experience the joy of skiing and snowboarding, regardless of financial barriers. We’re grateful for the continued support of the Sarie McCarthy Scholarship in helping make recreation accessible to all Sebago youth.
"Sebago native and outdoor girl, Sarie McCarthy, loved sharing the outdoors with any willing friend or adventurer. An avid snowboarder, hiker, mountain biker and adventure seeker, Sarie participated with passion in all of it!
Since the age of four Sarie’s real passion was sliding down hills on skis, and then snowboards. She embraced at an early age that while snowboarding she could have runs that were challenging and have some falls, but with the next ride up the chairlift you could undoubtedly have the best run of your life! A valuable life lesson of picking yourself up and trying again.
In her honor, her friends started a scholarship fund to give Sebago children the opportunity to experience these life-changing sports of snowboarding and skiing, that Sarie loved so much!"
